Terms & Conditions

We are keen to make your experience with Strathardle Lodge as enjoyable as possible. In order to avoid misunderstandings the terms below set out our policies and your terms and conditions of booking. 

This agreement

Once a reservation is made, the guest has entered into a contract with Strathardle Lodge Ltd. Where the booking has been made on behalf of the guest, the agreement is with that third party. Third parties should ensure that the guests are aware of these terms and conditions. 

Payment

When you book a room at Strathardle Lodge a £75 deposit is required to secure the booking. The balance is then payable on departure. 

Covid-19

You should not travel if you have any concerns about your health or that of anyone travelling with you. You should not travel if requested to self-isolate by the authorities.

If you or anyone in your party has knowingly travelled with symptoms or in breach of the Track and Trace regulations, and Strathardle Lodge has to close to guests as a result, you will be liable for the full room rate for the entire quarantine period in addition to the payment due for the booked stay. The same will apply should you book a stay with us for the purposes of self-isolation.

You should cancel your booking if within 14 days of your due check-in date you have:

  • had Covid-19 symptoms check the UK Government website for more information.
  • been tested positive for Covid-19
  • knowingly come into close contact with someone who has had Covid-19 symptoms or tested positive for

Our Responsibilities

Starthardle Lodge Ltd undertakes to provide clean and welcoming accommodation in the room(s) and dates agreed in the reservation. We will ensure that our Guest House meets all Covid standards and the highest standards of service and cleanliness.

Arrivals and Departures

You can check in at Strathardle Lodge from 3.00 pm. If however your room is not ready you are welcome to collect your keys and leave your luggage. Please let us have your time of arrival so that we are here to welcome you. We ask that your room is vacated by 10.00 am to allow us to prepare for the next guests.

Your Booking

Your booking is as contracted for the number of nights and people. You are not allowed to have additional people staying in the room over and above the number contracted (i.e. you cannot have four people sleeping in the triple room) without prior agreement. 

Children who require a cot are free of charge. Everyone else on the booking is considered to be taking a bed space and charged accordingly.

Cancellations

All cancellations of accommodation must be given at least 7 days prior to your arrival date, thereafter a full charge will be made for the first night. We also reserve the right to charge for 75% of booked value for consecutive nights if we are unable to resell your room. We reserve the right to charge for unused nights in the event of an early departure. 

Where any cancellation is for Covid reasons the restrictions above do not apply. Proof will be required in order to ensure this concession is not abused. 

In this instance a voucher will be provided to allow the stay to be redeemed once Covid restrictions have been cleared in accordance with government guidelines. 

Behaviour

Please remember that you are sharing Strathardle Lodge with other guests and with the owners – please behave accordingly. Please be aware of fellow guests if coming in very late or leaving early from the Guest House, and when watching TV or playing music. We reserve the right to terminate bookings if faced with unreasonable or anti-social behaviour.

We do not tolerate racist, sexist, homophobic or otherwise discriminatory language or behaviour and we reserve the right to terminate a booking on receipt of a complaint. Please contact the owners as soon as possible if you have an issue with the behaviour of a fellow guest.

Doggie Policy

Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome to stay in the room with you with an extra cleaning charge of £15 per visit. 

Guests are responsible for anti-social dogs whether it’s aggressive behaviour or noise. If the dogs can not be controlled then the stay will be terminated for the safety and comfort of other guests.

Dogs are not to be left unattended in the bedroom and are not permitted in the breakfast bar during service. They are welcome to enjoy the breakfast/Honesty bar in the evening.

However, if you would like your dog to join you at breakfast you can order from the blue Guest Lounge.

There is a secure dog play area which can be accessed by a small gate between the main building and the outside cottages.

Honesty Bar

Strathardle Lodge welcomes you to use the Honesty Bar. You can help yourself to the licensed beers, wines and spirits along with a selection of snacks and microwave meals. All items must be recorded and are payable at the end of your stay.

We ask for your integrity when visiting the honesty bar and to keep the area as clean and tidy as you can.

Licensing laws apply so please adhere to bar rules.

The Honesty Bar is open from 5pm -10pm daily. 

Bar Meals

We offer a small selection of bar meals, which are served between 6pm to 7.30pm daily. If guests prefer a full restaurant experience then the Kirkmichael is just 500m away, but early booking is recommended. 

All meals must be pre-booked, with the latest orders at 4pm.

Complaints

In the event of a complaint, we will investigate and respond in a timely and courteous manner. Where appropriate, we will make immediate amends.

Housekeeping, Guests’ Liabilities

Strathardle Lodge is strictly no smoking in all inside areas. A standard cleaning charge of £50.00 per night will be levied on guests who smoke in their rooms.

We reserve the right to charge guests the cost of rectifying damage, caused by the deliberate, negligent or reckless act of the guest to property or structure. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit or debit card, or send an invoice for the amount to the registered address. We will however make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.

We reserve the right to charge guests the cost of replacing any items that are removed from the premises by them without consent. The charge will be the full replacement amount of the missing item, including any carriage charges. Should the fact that the item is missing come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit or debit card, or send an invoice for the amount to the registered address.

We reserve the right to take action against any guest found to have tampered or interfered with any fire detection equipment throughout the Guest House, including detector heads in public areas and bedrooms, break glass points and fire extinguishers. Guests found to have tampered with any fire detection or fire fighting equipment will be charged with any costs incurred by the hotel due to their actions and additionally may be asked to leave the hotel. Should the fact that fire fighting or detection equipment had been tampered with come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guests credit or debit card, or send an invoice for the amount to the registered address.

Replacement keys, umbrellas or dryers are charged at £25.00 each.

We will use our best efforts to return any items left behind by a guest after their stay, but reserve the right to recoup any costs incurred by Strathardle Lodge.

Security

Strathardle Lodge expect your room and the front door of the property to be closed at all times. We request that all guests follow this safety and security measure. We reserve the right to refuse admission and exclude visitors from our accommodation.

A booking-in form must be completed by all guests on arrival with passport numbers for overseas visitors.

We also ask that all guests read our fire notice that can be found on the wall of each room.

Data Protection

Strathardle Lodge retains your contact details as an integral part of the booking process. We are required to retain your registration for a year. We may contact you in the future with a newsletter, but you can opt out at any time. We will not share your information in any other way with any third party.

Loss of or Damage to Guests’ Property

Under the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956, an hotel proprietor may in certain circumstances be liable to make good any loss of or damage to a guest’s property even though it was not due to any fault of the proprietor or staff of the hotel. This liability however:

  • a) extends only to the property of guests who have engaged sleeping accommodation at the hotel;
  • b) is limited to £50 for any one article and a total of £100 in the case of any one guest, except in the case of property which has been deposited, or offered for deposit, for safe custody;
  • c) does not cover motor-cars or other vehicles of any kind or any property left in them, or horses or other live animals.

This notice does not constitute an admission either that the Act applies to this hotel or that liability thereunder attaches to the proprietor of this hotel in any particular case.
